Companies
Alongside research, I have co-founded two applied-AI companies and led the technology at both.
Ogma Therapy
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer,
2024–2026
Ogma Therapy uses AI to help children with speech, language, and communication needs get access to speech therapy. I led research and engineering from prototype to trade sale.
The central technical problem was speech recognition for children whose speech is disordered. Conventional systems decode against a fixed vocabulary and so “correct” a child’s misarticulations away, which destroys exactly the signal a therapist needs. We built phoneme-level models that preserve it, together with the annotation pipelines that created training data where none existed, and safeguarding layers for automated therapy agents. Ogma raised over £700k in equity financing and was acquired by Saltroad in 2026.
Texture AI
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer,
2018–2022
Texture AI uses natural language processing to help governments and third-sector organizations communicate more effectively. I co-founded it during my PhD.
I led research and engineering on three products. Texture Generate combines an AutoML ensemble, explainable AI, and generative models to tell writers which words drive performance; live A/B tests through media agencies showed 20–50% gains in click-through. Target, funded by an Innovate UK grant that I led, improved click-through for a public-service campaign by 27% and was shortlisted for Campaign magazine’s Tech for Good award. Pulse is a social-listening platform built on topic models.
